At Rad Doods, we believe every dog in our breeding program deserves to live first and foremost as a cherished family member. Rather than keeping a large number of breeding dogs in our home or in kennels, we partner with carefully selected local families through our Guardian Home Program.

Our Guardian Program allows us to continue improving our Goldendoodle lines by thoughtfully adding exceptional dogs to our program while making sure each of those dogs gets the love, attention, and everyday family life they deserve.

How Does the Guardian Program Work?

Guardian families welcome one of our breeding-quality Goldendoodles into their home at a significantly reduced price. Your guardian dog is your family companion—living with you, going on adventures with you, and being loved as a permanent member of your family—while Rad Doods retains breeding rights for an agreed-upon period of time.

Guardian families are responsible for the everyday care of their dog, including high-quality food, routine veterinary care, vaccinations, grooming, training, and other normal expenses associated with owning a dog.

Rad Doods covers expenses directly related to our breeding program, including breeding-related health testing, reproductive care, breeding, pregnancy, and whelping.

What Does Breeding Look Like?

For our female guardian dogs, Rad Doods retains breeding rights for a predetermined number of litters, provided she remains healthy and continues to do well with pregnancy and whelping.

When a female comes into heat, she will typically come stay with us for approximately one week during her breeding window and then return home to her guardian family.

About a week before her puppies are due, she will return to Rad Doods so she has plenty of time to settle in, become comfortable with her surroundings, and prepare for whelping. She stays with us while raising her puppies and returns to her guardian family once her puppies are weaned, typically around six weeks of age.

Male guardian dogs remain with their families and are used for breeding on an as-needed basis.

Could You Be a Rad Doods Guardian Family?

Our guardian families are an incredibly important part of Rad Doods. We are looking for loving, responsible families who will provide one of our dogs with an exceptional forever home while partnering with us in our breeding program.

Guardian families must live within approximately 45 minutes of Chugiak, Alaska and be willing to work closely with us throughout their dog's time in our program.

If you think becoming a Guardian Home might be a great fit for your family, we would love to hear from you! Please fill out our Guardian Home Application below to get started.

"We couldn't be happier with Olive and our experience with Rad Doods.

Andrea

She has the sweetest temperament, so gentle, loving, and easygoing. She’s also super smart and has been incredibly easy to train.

Her doggie daycare actually uses her to help with temperament testing because she’s so well behaved and naturally helps new dogs feel comfortable, which says a lot about her early socialization and handling as a puppy.

She’s brought so much joy to our family, and we’re so grateful. We’d absolutely recommend Rad Doods to anyone looking for a wonderful, well rounded dog.

"Juniper truly is the best most perfect pup

Katrina E.

we could have ever hoped for. She has such a sweet demeanor and completely adores our son. She has been introduced to lake life and camping, and has jumped right in to being the perfect Alaskan companion. Here she is out at Eklutna on her first camping trip, and learning how to paddle board! ”

"We had such a wonderful experience

getting our puppy from Rad Doods. Marianne kept us updated every step of the way with videos and photos and was always available to answer questions. It’s clear how much she truly cares about her pups, and that made all the difference. We absolutely recommend Rad Doods to anyone looking for a loving, responsible breeder!”

"Copper has settled in so well!

Tonya B.

He's doing great with training and already knows sit, lay, stand, touch, and watch. He’s such a fun, playful puppy who loves to cuddle and be at my feet while I work. He even takes naps in his kennel all on his own! We absolutely love having him as part of our family.”

"We love Honey!

Jennifer S.
